Whiskey Roundup 02/16/20 to 02/22/20

Whiskey RoundupEvery Saturday I go through Twitter with #whiskey and roundup my favorite whiskey articles! These are may favorites for this week

I like most cocktails, but this is one I can definitely get behind. This combines two of may favorite things, rye whiskey and coffee!

This wintery cocktail is perfect for the winter months, when the winter colds can get you down. In the last few years I have become a huge believer in the magical qualities of a hot toddy.

I've been looking to grow my whiskey library lately. This one will be going on the list of books to be looking for!

I think what caught my eye scrolling through was the word "reserve." Do you typically find that  "reserve whiskeys" are better, more top shelf quality, or do you think it is sometimes more of a marketing trick?

Hot Toddy

My allergies seem to be ever present lately. I've never been one to rely too much on medication, so lately I've been turning to the old fashioned solution of a Hot Toddy.

The Recipe

The Tools:

  • Glass Mug
  • Citrus Reamer
  • Jigger

The Ingredients:

  • 2 oz whiskey
  • 2 oz hot water
  • 1/2 lemon juiced
  • Lemon twist
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • Dash of bitters

The Method:

Maybe the best thing about a Hot Toddy is the ease, the simplicity of making it. No one wants to exert any extra effort when they aren't feeling well. To make the Hot Toddy, combine all liquid ingredients in the glass mug and stir. Garnish with a lemon twist. Then sit back, relax, and begin to feel better!
